“ Such a cute little spot on Convoy! Love the vibe in here and I feel like it deserves more hype than it gets! Parking is usually okay here depending on the time you come (they have some spots on the back side of the building as well). For bigger parties, I'd recommend making a reservation, but groups of up to 4 are easily accommodated. Items I've tried: - Chirashi bowl - SOLID option if you're looking for a good variety of high quality fish! All of the fish is amazing but I have to say my favorite is the fish roe that it comes with! - Black cod bento box - i think this is my favorite dish here! I've only taken it to go but it was still SO GOOD. It comes with so much variety and every item adds a new flavor + the fish is definitely the star of the show and just melts in your mouth. - Nabeyaki udon - another solid choice! This was the first item I tried here and it was so good I knew I had to come back to try their other items (even though I also only took it to go). The broth was so clean and healing and overall was super cozy and tasted home-cooked which I loved. - Tonkotsu curry - very large portion! I almost always have leftovers with this one which makes it super worth the price! The curry is your classic japanese curry and I thought the meat was perfectly crisped. Also a 10/10 choice if you love curry! Always thinking about Izakaya Sakura as an option when I go to Convoy and am craving authentic japanese food! ”
“ Such an amazing lunch the food was fresh and flavorful. Nigiri was fat and super good. This place has taken the spot for my favorite Japanese restaurant in San Diego. ”
“ Japanese home cooking. Curry, bento box (during lunch time) sushi, rice bowls, ramen. Everything is delicious here and tastes as if we are in Japan again. Tucked in a small food plaza in convoy area, you'll miss it if you aren't looking for it. There's plenty of free parking. There may be a wait sometimes on the weekends as people often line up before opening time. Staff here are very nice and a majority (if not all) are Japanese. Definitely a place we choose to come back to whenever we are craving some japanese home cooking. ”
“ Friendly and quick service. We ordered the omlette curry, yakitori, a California roll and some nigiri. The omlette was so hearty and warm, tasted like a home cooked meal from a family member. The miso soup that came on the side was also very delicious and probably the best miso I've ever tasted. The California roll was made with a good amount of crab and avocado. Decently sized too. The yakitori didn't taste dry or burnt, it was perfectly cooked! This place deserves more recognition! Will definitely be back. ”
“ This was so good! I got the sashimi special which included 16 pieces of different kinds of sushi (2 pieces each). My family got the sashimi bowl which included various sushi types and rice. It also came with a miso soup and a potato salad which was definitely worth since the sashimi bowl meal was only $4 more than my sashimi special. I visit this plaza a lot so I will definitely be back soon! ”
